June 20 - Friday

7:00pm - Lawnmower Pull at Big Lick Festival Park

 

June 27 - Friday

7:00pm - ATV Test and Tune at Big Lick Festival Park

 

June 28 - Saturday

8:00am - Freedom Run 5K/Fun Run Sponsored by Stanly Community College & Stanly Regional Medical Center.  Register Online or at Vac & Dash in Albemarle, NC

 

10:00am-12:00pm - RC Air Show at Dwight Hill RC Airfield

 

7:00pm - ATV Drag Race at Big Lick Festival Park. Note to riders, registration begins at 5:00pm

 

June 29 - Sunday

2:00-4:00pm - Registration for Oakboro 4th of July Talent Show at Oakboro First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall

 

6:00pm - Community Worship Service @ Oakboro First Baptist Church Fellowship Building - Everyone is invited to attend

 

July 1 - Tuesday

6:00pm - Smokey Mountain Amusements & Rides Open on the Oakboro Midway

Dollar Night - Each ticket costs $1, each ride takes 1 ticket

 

6:00pm - 2008 Little Miss 4th of July Pageant

 

7:00pm - Firefighter Competition Sponsored by Efird-Quality Gas

 

8:00pm - GMC Praise Band performs on the Union Power Stage (Free Concert)

 

11:30pm - Celebration ends for the day

 

July 2 - Wednesday

5:00pm - Kids' RC Boat Race at Oakboro District Park - Registration at 5pm, race at 6pm

 

6:00pm - Smokey Mountain Amusements & Rides open on the Oakboro Midway

Family Night / Armbands

 

8:00pm - Oakboro 4th of July Talent Show

 

11:30pm - Celebration ends for the day

 

July 3 - Thursday

6:00pm - Smokey Mountain Amusements & Rides open on the Oakboro Midway

7:00 - Field Day games for kids sponsored by Quality Child Care

 

8:00pm - Too Much Sylvia, One of the Carolinas' hottest Top 40/ Beach Bands, performs on the Union Power Stage (Free Concert)

 

11:30pm - Celebration ends for the day

 

July 4 - Friday

9:00am - Annual 4th of July Parade - Main Street Oakboro, get here early for one of North Carolina's largest 4th of July Parades!

 

10:00am - Smokey Mountain Amusements & Rides open on the Oakboro Midway

 

11:00am - BBQ Dinner at the Fire Department

 

11:00am - Welcome Remarks, Mayor Joyce Little

              - Invocation, Rev. Jeff Springer

              - National Anthem

              - Pledge of Allegiance and Flag Raising Ceremony

              - God Bless America - The Watts Family

              - Presentation of Former Fire Queens sponsored by

                Home Savings Bank

              - 2008 Miss Stanly County Fire Queen Pageant

 

2:00pm - Rides on the Oakboro Midway close for a short break

 

5:00pm - Smokey Mountain Amusements & Rides re-open

 

8:00pm - Blake Wise, an up and coming Country & Western Artist, performs on the Union Power Stage (Free Concert)
